When flying from El Fashier to El Geneina or in the other direction one sees at least half a dozen hills like this. Are they extinct volcanoes? I have not yet found anybody that could tell me. Posted by Picasa

Hi Werner, according to Wikipedia, the Marrah Mountains (Jebel Marra, Arabic: جبل مرة‎ bad mountain) is a range of volcanic peaks rising up to 3,000 m, in the center of the Darfur region of Sudan. Love the pics as always!

Thanks, Cath. You should see these peaks. Very dramatic and so many. I wonder what kind of fossils one could find here.
