Working Class Hero by Blink 182

Those of you who know something about John Lennon will know about his song "Working Class Hero", which deals with alienation and other issues of our times. The band Blink 182 are now also performing the song, but with specific reference to Darfur. I have heard it twice the way they perform it and it works for me. If you want to hear it buy a CD called "Instant Karma". This CD is an attempt by Amnesty International to help in generating funds to help the people of Darfur. Working Class Hero appears on the CD as well as other great songs and you will do your part for the prevention of further genocide in Sudan.

Actually, Working Class Hero is performed by Green Day, not Blink 182.

You can see the video here:

The image you use in this post is on the cover of the book “Not on Our Watch.” I have written about photographs being exploited, but not helping those it is supposed to. Do you remember the green-eyed Afghan girl that appeared in the “National Geographic” magazine? “Her image appeared on the front of magazines and books, posters, lapel pins, and even rugs, but she didn't know it.” Yet it has barely made a difference for the people of Afghanistan. I discuss this in detail on my blog
