Congratulations America

Not being an American and being tired of the crap surrounding American politics I made an effort not to follow the recent elections in the USA. The elections happened without me even knowing about it, but for some reason I switched channels one night while surfing channels on my television and there was Barack Obama making his acceptance speech. I would have switched channels again had it not been for the way he spoke and what he said; for some reason it grabbed my attention and I followed his speech to the end.

At last here seems to be an American to grab people's imagination and that is a very good sign for Americans and the rest of the world. I am looking forward to a change in the way America does business. Now if you guys can only take another step in the right direction and impeech George W. Bush for invading Iraq illegally.

Congratulations, America for getting it right.

One is impeached (indicted) in the House of Represenatives and tried in the Senate and the punishment is remomal from office.

Impeachment will be irrelevant at 12:00 Noon US Eastern Time Zone, 20 January 2009.

Which does not preclude trial in a criminal court, but SC Res 1441 is vauge enough to prevent a determintion of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt in a fair trial.

Thank you for your rectification, Hank. Have a great day.

Werner... the UN mandated the Iraqi invasion by the way. :-)

Hi, Rob. I cannot seem to remember that. Could you by any chance remember the resolution number?

UNSC Resolution 1441

Anonymous, if you took your time to actually read UNSC Resolution 1441 you would have noticed it states simply

* That Iraq was in material breach of the ceasefire terms presented under the terms of Resolution 687. Iraq's breaches related not only to Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs), but also the known construction of prohibited types of missiles, the purchase and import of prohibited armaments, and the continuing refusal of Iraq to compensate Kuwait for the widespread looting conducted by its troops in 1991.

* That "...false statements or omissions in the declarations submitted by Iraq pursuant to this resolution and failure by Iraq at any time to comply with, and cooperate fully in the implementation of, this resolution shall constitute a further material breach of Iraq’s obligations".

Nowhere does it say immediate military action should be taken by the USA and its allies. Please do not waste my time and give me something concrete next time. I am waiting patiently to post my apology once you have provided me with the proof. To be honest, there is few things I want more than to apologise for my mistake. Have a great day.

Thanks for the rectification, Daniel, but even if it had been you, rest assured that I would not have made it personal. I am always open for discussion as long as there is mutual respect for each other's opinions. Have a great one.

As an American-born person, I also congratulate a candidate who made obvious his regard for general American intelligence. The country finally got tired of being treated like mushrooms and displayed their willingness to live the true American spirit.
