What About Zimbabwe

The situation is Zimbabwe does not seem to be reaching a conclusion. Not only does it currently have the worst economy in the world, but its population, including people I know are suffering and dying in droves. It has the worst Cholera Epidemic in history and that has now crossed its border with South Africa so that now we are also beginning to sit with the problem.

What I find hard to comprehend is how a man like Robert Mugabe who once had the respect of the world and his people could change so much seemingly overnight to the point where he is currently ruling a broken country and insisting everything is still fine or the fault of the UK and USA.

Somebody has to do something and soon. Good luck to those who are having to face hardship everyday across the Limpopo. Things will change and Zimbabwe will once again become the beautiful independant country we remember. I just do not know when ...

South African Air Assault Badge Approved

This morning I was excited to hear that the South African Air Assault Badge developed by me and Capt Gibson (Ret) of 1 Parachute Battalion , 44 Parachute Regiment is on the verge of being approved. Soon we will wear it with pride on our uniforms after waiting more than two years.

Mobilising Consciousness

How does any person or organisation mobilise millions of people? What was the recipe for success that spread a concept such as The Law of Attraction or any similar idea? I am reading a book by Jill Bolte Taylor (PhD), a brain scientist, who suffered a stroke and thereafter wrote this book entitled My Stroke of Insight. In it she describes how she recovered and the day when she given a puzzle to put together by her mother G.G. Her stroke affected the left hemisphere of her brain including the part that made her recognise colours. She therefore could not tell the colours of the puzzle apart until her mother said to her that the colours were a tool to completing the puzzle ... and suddenly she could see and distinguish between different colours again.

Just as a single thought made her see colours again, how do we create that same type of shift in people? Is it possible? Probably, but the same method does probably not work for everybody since we think and perceive our ideas of reality differently, unless everybody realise they are actually one. The paradox is that the day when people are sharing consciousness in such a way that a new thought will manifest in all human beings at the same time we will probably not want to use it in any event. It will simply be.

So back to our current reality. How do we get an idea to take root with so many people with time being an issue? Do we use the internet or books or videos or television or something like the Maharishi Effect? Do we maybe use them all simultaneously? I think that in the end we may consider using all resources, but this is subject to finances so is only practical in a perfect world.

So it comes down to having no clear answers and no easy solutions. Maybe the point is to go through the process of struggle like the Green Movement is proving. After many decades people are taking the Green Movement seriously enough to reach the point of critical mass where it feeds itself. Therefore I would suggest that all great ideas should be stoked and pushed forward until they reach the point of critical mass. Once they reach critical mass nothing can stop them.

Yes, he has a blog. Have a look here.

Invincible Defence Technology

In my previous post I focused on what may be something of utmost importance, Invincible Defence Technology. Although I have always known it can work I never realised exactly how much scientific support there was for the principle or how many top scientists endorse it.

To my links list on the left of this page I have added a link to http://www.invincibledefense.org/. Do yourself a favour and visit this site. Be sure to download the brochure here from the same site that provides you with a condensed explanation of the principle since the amount of information available is very confusing at first.

Anybody who has had first-hand experience of the Maharishi Effect be so kind as to e-mail me with your story or if you have links to sites I might appreciate please provide me with that information.

This is a comment left on Sudan Watch:

I attended the Washington DC the 1993 two month long Maharishi Effect intervention in Washington DC. It was fascinating to follow the newspaper reports of violent crime. The police, FBI and newspapers were predicting a bad crime season. Violent crime is partially linked to temperature and that summer was a hot one. So crime was predicted to rise. But the TM group was there practicing the Invincible Defense Technology. The TM group had predicted the drop in crime. And that’s exactly what happened. When the statistics were published the local media was astonished. Using TM to reduce violent tendencies in society may seem like a lot to swallow. But when prestigious peer reviewed publications like the Journal of Conflict Resolution are putting their reputation on the results, it is time to listen. Since this approach to bringing peace, harmony and coherence to a city or a nation has been replicated many times, it should be implemented world wide immediately. IDT can transform the world. A Scientifically Validated, Durable and Sustainable Peaceful Means to End Protracted Violence

This boggles the mind and may be one of the most important realisations ever. Thanks to Ingrid for sending me the information. You can visit the following blogs to read what she wrote:

http://congowatch.blogspot.com
http://sudanwatch.blogspot.com

I have just finished reading the articles as published by ingrid and this one, from www.mepeace.org, which I have posted below:

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was "working for a ceasefire that will be fully respected, durable and sustainable"
-- US State Department spokesman Gordon Duguid

"A lasting solution to the situation in Gaza can only be attained by peaceful means."
-- UN Secretary Ban Ki-moon

The attacks by Hamas show that Israel, despite its advanced technologies and valiant efforts, still struggles to eliminate violent extremism and cannot guarantee peace for its nation. Lebanon and Palestine are in similar situations. Clearly, a new strategy for peace in the Middle East is desperately needed.

Violent extremism is a human problem requiring human solutions. The underlying cause of extremist social violence is accumulated social stress. Therefore, to protect their civilian populations effectively, the armed forces of Israel, Lebanon and Palestine (the Palestinian Authority maintains an official uniformed armed service that is officially termed a "police force") need first to reduce the collective societal stress in their localities.

A new technology of defense now exists that can accomplish this goal. It is based upon the latest discoveries in the fields of physics, neuroscience, and physiology. Ultimately, it is based on the discovery of the unified field of all the laws of nature -- the most fundamental and powerful level of nature's dynamics. Extensive research has confirmed its effectiveness. This new technology is easily applied and highly cost-effective. It can prevent disruption and attack from within the country or outside the country.

This approach is known today as Invincible Defense Technology (IDT). It has its roots in ancient technologies of consciousness, revived in modern times by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi as a non-religious approach to peace. These technologies of consciousness directly access and harness the unified field on the deepest level of human experience -- pure consciousness itself. Extensive scientific research indicates that this approach reduces collective societal stress, eliminates extremism and thereby snuffs out war and terrorism. Over the past three decades, it has been quietly and successfully used by members of many faiths to defuse and eliminate conflict.

The approach involves the creation of large groups of peace-creating experts practicing Invincible Defense Technology together. A Prevention Wing of the Military consisting of approximately 2% to 3% of the military of each country could easily achieve this goal. These special units would be trained in the technologies of consciousness revived by Maharishi -- the Transcendental Meditation (TM) and TM-Sidhi programs -- and would practice these techniques in large groups, twice a day.

Extensive research shows that the size of the group needed to reduce social stress in a given population should exceed the square root of 1% of the population size. Israel would therefore need to train approximately 269 soldiers; Lebanon and Palestine will each need approximately 205 soldiers as IDT experts. (Source: http://www.SquareRootOfOnePercent.org)

Studies show that when the required threshold of IDT experts is crossed, crime rates go down in the affected population, quality of life indices go up, and terrorism and war abate. Scientists refer to this phenomenon as the Maharishi Effect in honor of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who first predicted it. As an example of this effect, in 1993 a two-month Maharishi Effect intervention was implemented in Washington, DC, the capital city of the US. Predictions of specific drops in crime and other indices were lodged in advance with government leaders and newspapers. An independent Project Review Board approved the research protocol. The findings showed that crime fell 24 percent below expected levels when the group size reached its maximum. Temperature, weekend effects, and previous trends in the data failed to account for these changes. The study was published in Social Indicators Research (1999, vol. 47, pp. 153-201).

Invincible Defense Technology experts gathered in Washington, DC, lowering the crime rate 24%

A day-by-day study in the Journal of Conflict Resolution (1988, vol. 32, #4, pp. 776-812) of a two-month-long coherence-creating assembly in Israel showed that, on days of high attendance, war deaths in neighboring Lebanon decreased by 76%. On the same days, a composite quality-of-life index showed decreased crime, traffic accidents and fires in Jerusalem, and decreased crime accompanied by improvements in the stock market and national mood throughout Israel. Other possible causes (weather, weekends, holidays, etc.) were statistically controlled for and could not account for the results A follow-up day-by-day study in the Journal of Social Behavior and Personality, (2005, vol. 17, #1, pp. 285-338) of more than two years showed that during seven different coherence-creating assemblies, war deaths in Lebanon decreased by an average of 71%.

IDT Group Size Vs. Quality of Life in Israel

Quality of life in Israel improved and intensity of the conflict in Lebanon decreased in direct proportion to the number of Invincible Defense Technology experts in the coherence-creating group. A short online video featuring Dr. John Hagelin explains this finding.

The research results on the effects of coherence-creating assemblies on the Lebanese conflict are of particular significance to UN peacekeeping forces. One study covered the period from July to August 1983, and the other covered the two-year period from 1983-1985. During these periods, international peacekeeping forces were on duty with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon. The research indicates that during the coherence-creating assemblies, decreased stress and increased coherence in regional collective consciousness may have diminished violent outbursts in Lebanon and facilitated more co-operative interaction among typically antagonistic factions. This research provides strong evidence for the reliability of coherence-creating groups even under extreme conditions of protracted political violence.

Over 50 studies have shown that IDT works. The causal mechanism has been postulated to be a field effect of consciousness -- a spillover effect on the level of the unified field from the peace-creating group into the larger population. On this basis, a study in the Journal of Social Behavior and Personality (2005, vol. 17, #1, pp. 339-373) additionally offers a proposed explanation of causality in biological terms. Research conducted on the powerful neurotransmitter serotonin shows that it produces feelings of contentment, happiness and even euphoria. Low levels of serotonin, according to research, correlate with violence, aggression, and poor emotional moods. The IDT study showed that higher numbers of IDT experts correlated with a marked increase in serotonin production among other community members. These results were statistically significant and followed the attendance figures in the IDT group. This finding offers a plausible neurophysiologic mechanism to explain reduced hostility and aggression in society at large.

The Maharishi Effect has also been documented on a worldwide scale in a study published in the Journal of Offender Rehabilitation (2003, vol. 36, #1-4, 283-302) using data provided by the Rand Corporation. When large assemblies of IDT experts exceeded the Maharishi Effect threshold for the world during the years 1983-1985, terrorism decreased globally 72%, international conflict decreased 33%, and violence within nations was reduced without intrusion by other governments.

In the 1990s, the military in Mozambique used IDT to end its civil war. Today, The Netherlands, Bolivia, Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Peru have enough practitioners of IDT to create the Maharishi Effect. The United States of America is close to achieving the requisite number of IDT experts through its Invincible America Assembly in Fairfield, Iowa. And a group large enough to have a global effect is planned for India. But these are all civilian groups, and most require financial support.

Since the armed forces of Palestine, Lebanon and Israel are funded by their governments and their personnel are paid to perform their duties and protect their citizens, IDT groups in these armed forces would not be subject to fluctuations of donors, jobs, student graduations, and optional activities. They would be permanent peace-creating groups.

The armed forces of Israel, Lebanon and Palestine are responsible for protecting their respective civilian populations, and are obligated to thoroughly examine realistic, scientifically proven methods for ending war and terrorism. IDT is such a method. Therefore, we feel it is their duty to each create a Prevention Wing of the Military and truly protect their citizens.

Even if the leaders of Israel, Lebanon and Palestine do not quickly act to implement IDT, the UN and the US government can move in to end the conflict, in a non-invasive way. IDT need not be employed in exact proximity of conflict or potential conflict. However, best results occur when the system is deployed within local political boundaries of the prejudiced area(s). Simultaneously, deployment of IDT within more inclusive boundaries (e.g., regional or country-wide) also creates positive effects across the larger boundaries.

IDT achieves best operating characteristics when all participants comprise one group within close association of each other (proximity averaging 1.5 meters between participants). However, positive effects will still be attained when participants operate in several smaller groups. For this reason, IDT-trained UN peacekeeping forces could be deployed in neighboring countries. Sea-based Prevention Wings are theoretically possible. For instance, the US carrier Kitty Hawk (CV-63) supported 1,000 Special Operations Forces onboard for its mission in Afghanistan. Therefore, carrier battle groups supporting IDT experts could be deployed to the Persian Gulf to reduce tensions in the entire Middle East (approximate population = 800 million; 1% of population = 8 million; square root of 8 million = 2829 IDT experts needed to achieve the Maharishi Effect).

As a scientifically validated, field-tested approach, the Invincible Defense Technology is the most realistic strategy to root out and combat the menace of terrorism. It therefore represents, in the words of US State Department spokesman Gordon Duguid, a "fully respected, durable, and sustainable" peaceful means to end the protracted violence in the Middle East.

Come to South Africa

Come to the cradle of mankind, South Africa. In South Africa you will find anything from snow to desserts, the world famous wildlife, excellent hospitality, world-class shopping opportunities, our wide open spaces and one of the best road networks in the world.

I would dare anyone to drive more than 100km on most roads without finding five star accommodation. From the wine route to the garden route, Table Mountain to some of the best Blue Flag beaches on the entire globe.

South Africa has a good public transport system from cheap flights and luxury coaches to shuttle services and very cheap taxi services. The current system is being upgraded even more for the 2010 Soccer World Cup scheduled to take place here. The 2010 World Cup is an opportunity that is causing an upgrade for most services and accommodation in the country.

Like any other country South Africa has its own problems, but vacationers here are in no more danger than any other country in the world. It should be noted that for this past festive season we have had the lowest totals of robberies and car hijackings in a very long time.

Any person wishing to visit South Africa can find a ton of information on the internet and you can even e-mail me for extra user-friendly information. I will help you for free.

Do not make the mistake of thinking its not worth visiting.

"Do not dismiss South Africa as being somewhere that is too dangerous to visit or somewhere that is simply poverty stricken. The reality is that it is a country that has a variety of different sides to it, some are very rugged and beautiful, some are urban and some are simply mile upon mile of beautiful scenery and fantastic wildlife. It has also had a very colourful and at times turbulent history, but this has shaped this country. This gives South Africa dimensions that other countries simply cannot rival and explains why people simply love going there time after time. It is different and it is just that little bit special. So stay safe, but enjoy!"

The Return of True Democracy

The Greeks invented democracy, but as Greece and the world grew we as its citizens have had to live with a watered-down form of imperfect democracy, which meant that those elected to power only had to get themselves elected and from then on they could basically do what they wanted to during their term in office. Sure the public could make their feelings known if they did not agree with policy, but the elected official was already in power.

With the perfecting of the way one votes using the internet it has to change. Not only will officials be elected to office by a true count of votes, but said official would have the nation voting on most decisions he or she had to make. Say for example a leader wants to invade a country under false pretexes then the citizens have a day or two to vote. After the voting window expires the votes are tallied and the decidion is made. Hence the president does what his original job description asked of him or her, they carry out the wishes of their people.

Imagine when this happens. Which countries in the world will first implement this? I can't wait to see how many true democracies we actually have.

Waiting for Monday

As a non-American, but a citizen of this world I am looking forward to Monday when Barack is starting his term in the American White House. Hopefully he will not face the same uphill struggle as JFK did. Good luck from a fellow African, Barack.

Wow, how weird is that; a white African rooting for a black American president.

Yes, it has Happened

Ever heard the saying "when hell freezes over"? People would say that something will happen when hell freezes over. Apparently now everything is possible. How about that?
