How does the US F-22 Compare to the Russian Pak-FA?

There is a new kid on the block as the Russian Pak-FA is being developed to take on and beat the US F-22 as king of the skies. How do they compare?

Weight empty:

F-22: 19 700kg
Pak-FA: 18 000kg (Lighter aircraft)

Dry thrust:

F-22: 11 700kg (More power)
Pak-FA: 11 000kg

Maximum speed:

F-22: Mach 2.25 (Faster)
Pak-FA: Mach 2

F-22: 2 960km
Pak-FA: 3 500km (Longer range)

Thrust to weight ratio:

F-22: 1.08.
Pak-FA: 1.16 (More)

F-22: 1 × 20 mm M61A2 Vulcan 6-barrel rotary cannon in right wing root with a rate of fire of
6 000rpm.
Pak-FA: 1 × 30 mm 9A1-4071K (GSh-301) cannon in right LEVCON root with a rate of fire of
1 500 rpm. (Better because of its fire control system)

Other armamant:

F-22: Air to air mission loadout: 6 × AIM-120 AMRAAM, 2 × AIM-9 Sidewinder.
Pak-FA: Air to air loadout: 4 × K-77M or 4 × izdeliye 810, 2  × K-74M2 or 2 × izdeliye 300.

In the end the two aircraft compare quite well. The Pak-FA however is still in development so I cannot be sure of these figures. In the end the two aircraft are probably quite equal in capability. We will have to wait until the final Russian version is rolled out.

I might also add that the Cold War was lost because the Soviet Union could not match the US economically, but with Russia now following a capitalist system they have a lot of potential for growth. That means they may be able to match the US economically in the future. Time will tell.
