Who is Ivanka Trump and does she care enough?
Ivanka appeared on the cover of Seventeen in 2007 and the world knew she was going to be somebody to watch. She had a reasonably successful modelling career, but her real accomplishment was graduating Cum Laude at Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in economics.
Her current position is Executive Vice President of Development & Acquisitions at the Trump Organization. She has her own fashion and jewelery range in some of the best stores across the globe and serves on the board of 100 Women in Hedge Funds.
Who is she though? If you think about it you will realise you have never seen a compromising photo of her or read anything about this woman, which you would read about the other socialites in Manhattan.
Except for one thing. A 2006 analysis revealed that most of her fashion line was produced outside of the US in Third World Countries. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled her line of scarves for not meeting minimum safety standards.
She has a new book due out in March 2017 entitled "Women Who Work: Rewriting the Rules for Success". This is her second book, her first publication being "The Trump Card: Playing to Win in Work and Life".
Her father has taught her well - make as much money as possible. She may make her mark in the business world, but she will probably have no effect on her father's policies as POTUS because he is too stubborn, based on the things he says and his ego, and she probably does not care enough to want him to make significant changes, because it does not fit the money-making education she has had.
I suppose there is nothing wrong with that. We all have the right to be selfish, but I might add that we also have the right to care about others. Will she ever care enough about others to make enough of a difference? No, probably not, but people can change so who knows what the future holds.
That is Ivanka Trump. Do not expect too much from her.
